A home of faith for Eritrean Catholics in Calgary
We pray the ancient Ge'ez liturgy of our fathers, sing the mezmur of our homeland, and raise our children in the Catholic faith, in full communion with the Successor of Peter.

One family, one faith, many generations
The Eritrean Catholic Tigrigna Community brings together Eritrean Catholic families who have made Calgary their home. Some arrived decades ago, others only last year; many of our children were born here.
We belong to the Eritrean Catholic Church, an Eastern Catholic Church of the Ge'ez (Alexandrian) rite, and we gather every Sunday to celebrate the Holy Qidase in Ge'ez and Tigrigna.

A church home of our own in Calgary
Today we celebrate in a borrowed hall. Together we are raising funds for our own church, with a sanctuary for the Ge'ez liturgy, classrooms for Sunday School and a hall for our feasts.
The churches of home
Catholic faith has been rooted in Eritrea for more than 150 years, from the highlands of Akrur and Segheneyti to the cathedral of Asmara.
